Academic research
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to conduct numerous research projects. Not only have I been able to develop better technical, academic writing skills, but I have gained a deeper understand and appreciation for the world around us. Below you will find some of my research papers and posters.
WOULD ADAM SWIPE ON EVE
For my senior research thesis project, I conducted a qualitative study regarding young Christian adults and their usage of the mobile dating application, Tinder. Unlike my other qualitative research projects, I conducted focus groups to gather data and then organized my findings based off of common themes. While I greatly expanded my knowledge of research, I enjoyed the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of relational communication and identity through my study.

DECONSTRUCTING NUDITY
For my Rhetorical Theory class, I conducted a critical, visual analysis of ESPN The Magazine's "The Body Issue." I studied three separate photographs from various issues to challenge traditional uses and ideologies of the use of nudity in marketing. My research expands on the generalization of sexualizing the nude body and argues that using non-sexual nude images in marketing ultimately creates a new sense of identification with naked bodies – one of power, authenticity, and confidence rather than one of sexual appeal.

CONTROVERSIAL YET COMPELLING
For one of my major research projects throughout my college career, I sought to understand how media creates compelling messages by applying the representative anecdote to the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Specifically, I learned how the teen genre depicts certain controversial behaviors in compelling ways. This research helped develop my academic writing skills while expanding my understanding of media
This paper was accepted for presentation at the Eastern Communication Association Undergraduate Scholars Conference, which was unfortunately cancelled due to concerns about COVID-19.

CIVIL COLLABORATION
While in school, I had the opportunity to take various courses outside my major that expanded my understanding of communication and human connection. As part of a Marital Relations course, I conducted research and worked with a community partner to develop a handout on co-parenting for families of separation or divorce. This project allowed me to work to serve a particular audience and helped me make implement practical application of research.
